MorningPrint client Charlotte Tang designed a custom shape business card made with a die cut that we are excited to feature in our tip of the month.
MorningPrint has standard sizes for each product. For example the standard trim size of MorningPrint??s paper cards is 3.54?? x 1.97??. Just like all ??gang?? printers we unify the same size products so that we can use one plate to process. This method is both economical and efficient. | From time to time we will receive requests from designers that want to do something a little more outside the box by creating a custom shape / size business card. We enjoy helping our clients find a way to bring their creativity to life within our limitations.
Here are some recommendations if you are considering a custom shape / size card:
1. Custom size / shape projects are only available for our paper products. Possibilities will depend on the actual specifications and stock. Just email us your files / specifications / and desired stock and we will let you know what is possible. Custom sizes for our plastic products are only available for quantities in excess of 10,000 pieces per set.
2. We require all custom shape or size requests be made before ordering to ensure the possibility as well as inform you of all charges.
3. If the trim-size is bigger than our standard size: (For example, if your business cards artwork is bigger than 3.54??X1.97?? / 90mmX50mm), please name your artwork file as ??special custom size?? and leave a note for us in the ??contact customer center?? (located in the upper right hand corner of the website). Additional costs will be collected after the order is placed and we have reviewed your sizes and specifications.
4. If your trim-size is 10mm-20mm smaller than our standard trim size then no additional costs will incur. For example: if your business card trim-size is 3.54??X1.57?? / 90mmX40mm, or 2.76??X1.97?? / 70mmX50mm, we cut them with free of charge!
5. If your trim-size is too small: We will need to use a Die-cutting process. For example, if your business card artwork size is 3.54??X1.18?? / 90mmX30mm (extremely small / narrow / long). If we use the regular cutting process the cut might not be clean enough. So for a cleaner cut we use a Die which is a custom knife / blade to cut the paper in a press. It is a more accurate cut than our standard machine as we must cut each card one by one as opposed to cutting all the cards as they are stacked which can cause a 1-2mm shift. Of course, an additional cost is necessary for this.
6. Custom Shape size: As Charlotte??s cards are a custom shape (not rectangle), they are cut by a Die-cut process. The extra cost can vary depending on the size of the die. The more complicated the shape the less possible it may be due to die assembly. Please email us with specifications and art work to discuss any possibilities.
